This year, we invite students, parents, and community members to join us for Pack for Good. On April 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Scranton Branch will open its doors for a day of volunteering focused on packing Weekend Backpack Bags and prepping In-School pantry. This event offers a meaningful way to give back, connect with neighbors, and make a real difference.

What Is Pack for Good?

Pack for Good is a volunteer-driven event where participants come together to pack weekend backpack bags and prepare in-school pantry. This food is distributed to students in need throughout the region. The goal is to provide food to students to fill the meal gap on nights and weekends, when school meals are unavailable.

This event is more than just packing bags. It’s about building community spirit and showing that we care. Volunteers work side by side, sharing stories, laughter, and a common purpose. It’s a chance for students to learn the value of service, for parents to model kindness, and for neighbors to strengthen bonds.

Why Your Participation Matters

One in eight children experience daily hunger in the United States. Economic struggles, unexpected emergencies, and other hardships can leave children vulnerable. By volunteering at Pack for Good, you help bridge the gap between need and support.

Here are a few reasons why your involvement is important:

  • Direct Impact

Food goes directly to children who needs it. Your time translates into real help for hungry kids.

  • Community Connection

Volunteering brings people together. It creates a network of support and fosters a sense of belonging.

  • Educational Experience

For students, volunteering offers hands-on learning about empathy, teamwork, and social responsibility.

  • Personal Fulfillment

Helping others boosts your own well-being. Many volunteers report feeling happier and more connected after giving their time.

Who Can Volunteer?

Pack for Good welcomes everyone. Whether you are a student looking to earn community service hours, a parent wanting to spend quality time with your child, or a community member eager to contribute, your help is needed.

  • Students

Bring your energy and enthusiasm. This is a great way to meet new people and make a positive impact.

  • Parents

Volunteer alongside your children or on your own. Your participation sets a powerful example.

  • Community Members

Join neighbors and local organizations in a shared effort to support those in need.

No special skills are required. Volunteers will be guided through the packing process, making it easy and enjoyable for everyone.

What to Expect on April 3

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Scranton Branch. Here’s what you can expect when you arrive:

  • Check-In and Orientation

Volunteers will sign in and receive a brief overview of the day’s activities.

  • Packing Stations

Tables will be set up with all the items needed to pack. Volunteers will work collectively to pack bags efficiently.

  • Community Time

There will be opportunities to meet other volunteers and learn more about CHOP Out Hunger.

Volunteers can come for any amount of time that fits their schedule. Whether you stay for an hour or the full five hours, your contribution is valuable.

How to Prepare for the Event

To make the most of your volunteer experience, consider these tips:

  • Wear Comfortable Clothing and Closed-Toe Shoes

You’ll be on your feet and moving around, so dress comfortably.

  • Bring a Water Bottle

Staying hydrated is important during active work.

  • Invite Friends and Family

Volunteering is more fun with others. Spread the word and bring a group.

  • Follow Safety Guidelines

We will provide any necessary health and safety instructions to ensure a safe environment for all.

The Impact of Your Efforts

CHOP Out Hunger serves 40,000 kids a week through In-School pantry and Weekend Backpack Bags across Pennsylvania. We rely on our volunteer to pack bags and prep bins to make it happen.

Ways to Get Involved Beyond Volunteering

If you can’t make it on April 3, there are other ways to support the Pack for Good initiative:

  • Donate

For $25, we can feed a student for a month. Sponsoring a student ensures they continue to receive consistent food when they need it.

  • Spread the Word

Share information about the event with friends, schools, and community groups.

Every bit of support helps us reach more people and build a stronger community.

Great post about the e district odisha and e district delhi services. It’s really helpful to see clear and simple information about how these platforms work for the public. Many users often face confusion while accessing online services, so this kind of guide makes things much easier. The explanation helps people understand how to navigate the portal and use it differently efficiently.
