CHOP Out Hunger is pleased to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from the PPL Foundation to strengthen the School Pantry Program, ensuring students in Lackawanna County have reliable access to nutritious food.
The PPL Foundation announced the recipients of its Spring 2026 grants, awarding $200,000 to support 30 organizations working to enhance inclusion and belonging for better outcomes for all.
Each week, more than 7,000 students across Lackawanna County have access to CHOP Out Hunger’s in-school pantries, filled with healthy food, snacks, and essential household items. By placing pantries directly inside the schools, we’re removing barriers to food access and ensuring students and families can get the support they need in a safe, familiar environment.
For many children, these pantries mean having enough food for evenings and weekends when school meals aren’t available. They also help students arrive at school ready to learn and improve focus, attendance, and overall well-being.
The PPL Foundation empowers communities across Pennsylvania and Rhode Island by supporting success and promoting the development of vibrant and sustainable communities.
CHOP is incredibly grateful to the PPL Foundation for investing in our mission to create a generation that doesn’t know hunger. Their partnership helps us continue building stronger schools, healthier families, and more resilient communities.
Thank you, PPL Foundation, for helping us ensure that no child has to learn on an empty belly!
