CHOP Out Hunger welcomed a major food donation to its Towanda Branch today as part of a nationwide initiative led by the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in collaboration with America250.
A truck carrying approximately 40,000 pounds of food arrived at CHOP Out Hunger’s Towanda location, providing critical support for children and families experiencing food insecurity across the region.
The donation was part of a large-scale national effort commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence through acts of service and community support. At a time when nonprofit resources continue to be stretched thin, the delivery helped strengthen CHOP Out Hunger’s ongoing mission of feeding thousands of children and families throughout Northeast and Central Pennsylvania.
Volunteers gathered throughout the morning to unload and organize the shipment for future distribution across Bradford County and surrounding communities. The event also highlighted the power of collaboration and community partnerships in addressing hunger at the local level.
“This donation represents partnership, compassion, and a shared commitment to ensuring families in our communities have access to the food they need,” said Dani Ruhf CHOP Out Hunger CEO/Founder.
The collaboration underscored how national organizations and local nonprofits can work together to create meaningful impact while honoring an important milestone in American history.
